We are looking for a loving and wonderful permanent home for this amazing boy. Quick update for those who have not been following Basil’s story from the start ~ Basil was rescued in Rocky Crest about two months ago, someone threw boiling water over the whole of his left side (only a small patch still visible where the hair will still grow)
Dr. Beggs has been treating Basil and Basil is still currently living with his foster mom (Ute Finke 081 423 9335) on her plot just on the outskirts of Windhoek. Both have been wonderful in Basil’s recovery process.
Basil is ready for a loving permanent home now. I had a long talk with dr. Beggs and he recommended that the wonderful person that will be adopting Basil first visits Basil a few times on the plot in order to gain Basil’s trust. Basil is protective of his environment and is the type of dog that won’t trust just every unknown person from the start (which is a very good thing). He gets along generally very well with other dogs (as is clear from the pics) and is playful and lively. Dr. Beggs also said that Basil is very active, like a border collie and will need a lot of exercise. He also gave some very useful advice (which I will share with the new owner) in order to make the transition to the new home as smooth as possible.
The ideal home would be one with a lot of space, or if the erf is not that big, he will need to be taken for daily walks. Basil is very loving and forms a very strong bond once you have gained his trust….He is looking for a special owner that will take very good care of him and will give him lots of attention and love and he will be your best friend forever.

CARE Note: It is possible to home Basil in sunny SA. All that is required is an Inter-territorial Movement Permit (which works as an Import Permit) and a Veterinary Health Certificate. The vet should be able to provide both documents.
